Worried about IP in your PhD? This workshop cuts through the complexity of IP management through interactive scenarios and real-world examples. We'll explore the essential IP questions that every research student needs to understand, including:
Background IP: what happens to IP you bring into your PhD
Public disclosure: when to discuss with your supervisor and how it affects IP protection
Copyright considerations: understanding what can be copyrighted and open-source licensing
Confidentiality agreements: when you might need to sign one and what it means
IP ownership: when the university might request IP assignment
Third-party IP: managing materials transfer agreements and licensing
By the end of this workshop, you will:
Understand your IP rights as a PhD student.
Know when and how to protect your IP.

She combines her 17 years of higher education experience with insights from commercial development and academia to help researchers develop their career plan.
