Event description

As Pride month ends and Disability Pride month begins, we invite you to join us for a special event celebrating LGBTIQA+ disability pride.

We have a fabulous panel of LGBTIQA+ disabled community leaders who will discuss ways we can sustain ourselves and our communities through difficult times, and share how pride plays a role in their self-care.

Our panel, facilitated by Opal, includes:

Jax Brown

Wiliam Ward-Boas

Katherine Marshall

Head over to our social media pages or subscribe to our newsletter to learn more about our amazing panelists!

There will also be an opportunity to ask the panel your burning questions during an interactive Q&A.

We will be joined by Victoria's LGBTIQA+ Commissioner, Joe Ball, who will give opening remarks. This event is largely funded by Commissioner Joe Ball's office.

The event will be a celebration of community, resistance, and our collective power as LGBTIQA+ people with disability.

Allies are most welcome to attend—this is an open event for anyone who would like to join us.

This is a hybrid event, taking place both in person at the Victorian Pride Centre and online.

For those attending in person, Gaystuff markets will be happening in the foyer from 12midday, and IRV will have a stall where you can sign up as a member, grab some merch, or make a donation!

VPC is also hosting a sausage sizzle from midday, so why not make a day of it!

COVID Safety

Our event will be COVID safer, and we ask everyone to please wear a mask if you're able to. We will hand out N95 and/or KN95 masks at the door. Please do not attend in person if you are unwell or experiencing any cold or flu symptoms.

We are borrowing air purifiers from the wonderful Clean Air Naarm to ensure the air we breathe together is as safe as possible.

Please note that the sausage sizzle and markets are not organised by IRV and do not have COVID safer policies in place. Attendees will need to walk through the market area to enter and exit the building.

General Accessibility

The venue is wheelchair accessible, and we will have Auslan interpreters.

The event will be live captioned.

Please reach out if you have any other accessibility requirements or questions.

We can't wait to celebrate with you!
