Event description

Understanding how autism may present in adult therapy settings
Live Online Training - 1 hour - $50

This training is for psychologists doing therapy with adults in Australia.

Around 20% of adults presenting to clinicians for mental health concerns are actually autistic. Many autistic adults come to therapy without knowing they are autistic, often highly masking, deeply thoughtful, and feeling misunderstood and confused. As psychologists, recognising what autism can look like in the therapy room is essential to being able to provide ethical, effective, and affirming care.

This one-hour session is designed to support psychologists working with adults to:
-Identify subtle and masked presentations of autism
-Understand the lived experience of autistic adults in therapy
-Reflect on how traditional models of therapy may need to shift
-Align practice with AHPRA’s new competencies around neurodiversity-aware care

This training is ideal for psychologists doing therapy with adults who are already neurodiversity-affirming, or who are curious and open to learning. You’ll come away with a deeper understanding of key things to watch out for in your therapy clients which may indicate that they are autistic.

This session will be recorded, and you will have access to the recording for 30 days after the event.

It is set up as a 'webinar' - meaning that your camera and microphone will not be on at all in the session. You will be able to see me, but I won't see you and nor will other participants. Perfect for lunch break viewing!

There are reduced cost tickets available for autistic attendees.
