Is the Future Really Female? What will it take to create change?

These days it seems like every way you turn there’s a message about equality.

“Women run the world!” “Girls to the front.” “She persisted.” “Empowered women empower women.”

But despite all the hard work of our peers and predecessors, it often feels like we aren’t gaining any ground. Government figures tell us gender equality in the workplace has improved by less than 2% in the last 5 years. At this rate, our daughters will be inheriting the same problems. 

Unfortunately women in tech face some of the greatest barriers — from equal pay and parental leave through to leadership pathways and accountability. 

So what will it take to create change?

Quotas and executive-led policies aren’t cutting it — it’s time for innovation and systemic change.

For our last panel event of 2021, Code Like a Girl will ask some of tech’s greatest minds how they’d solve the gender-equality problems plaguing our industry. We’ll look at what’s working, what’s not and what’s holding us back.
