Island-Style Choir Concert

Beautiful music on a beautiful island!

It's all about encouraging our communities to sing.  This event sees Logan-based Freedom Train choir combine with the island's own Coochie Choir, to present an afternoon of music aiming to entertain, uplift and make you want to sing!

The choirs will be supported by music from professional duos Mundy-Turner and Tidal Moon, both of which help underpin the development of these choirs and are fabulous acts in their own right.

Under the leadership of Cath Mundy OAM and Jay Turner OAM, Freedom Train has been singing, clapping and laughing for over 16 years, whilst the Coochie Choir has existed for less than two.  Despite these differences in longevity and experience, the passion is the same and we want to share that with you.

Freedom Train choir is well-versed in connecting music with a beautiful, buoyant sense of joy and has performed at many events from the City of Logan Carols to numerous Queensland Music Festivals and Hobart's Festival of Voices.   In 2021, the choir released an album entitled "ISO" available on all major digital platforms.

Jose Garcia leads the Coochie Choir from a multi-faceted background including community music in Victoria and around Australia, having developed jam sessions and music programs and delivering festival workshops to support these activities.  The island's choir has many members new to group singing and many of our Monday night sessions are filled with news of island events as well as actual singing!

Funds from ticket sales will be used to ensure that both choirs can continue to provide their respective communities, with a place where ALL voices have opportunity to sing loudly, proudly, with passion and beautiful harmony.  We would also like to thank Carolyn for the use of "Mudlo" for this event.
