CASUAL HEALING (AOTEAROA)

Nikau Te Huki is a unique composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Poneke, Aotearoa – and his soulful solo project goes by the name of Casual Healing.

There’s something curious about this young Maori-Italian maestro. He holds a charming crooked smile and often appears in elaborate wardrobe, with an old nylon guitar over his shoulder looking like Elvis Marley, weaving a symphony of Roots, RnB, Reggae, Neo-soul, Indie, folklore and Rock. The entire Casual Healing discography has been produced by Nikau in his home studio, Te Whare CHuR. Thus we begin to explore the many talents of this man.

Casual Healing understands the power of music. As a true sonic missionary, Nikau is creating a soothing “golden-era sound” as part of his mission to heal with his music. Te Huki is a natural storyteller who inspires the listener by sharing his perspective of life through an authentic and relatable lens, drawing from a palette of raw emotions and painting a canvas woven from the tapestry of his unique life.

The songs of Casual Healing emphasise life lessons of aroha, peace and unity through powerful lyrical scribe woven into smooth reggae, soul rhythm. This infusion creates a unique nostalgic vibe, creating a captivating and comforting essence that evokes recollections of moments shared with friends and whanau. Casual Healing’s goal is to create songs that “make people feel like they want to be better people”, drawing inspiration from Bob Marley, who showed us the power of compassion and simplicity.

KARAKA ORCHESTRA

Karaka Orchestra is a contemporary rhythm ensemble led by Argentinian composer and conductor Chucho Bruno. Blending percussion, melody and improvisation, the orchestra creates high-energy live performances built around collective rhythm and real-time musical direction.

Using a contemporary hand-sign language for live composition, Bruno guides the ensemble through evolving grooves, textures and melodic ideas as the music unfolds — no two performances are the same.

Featuring synths, drum kit, guitar, bass, congas, flute and percussion, Karaka Orchestra creates a genre-fluid sound that moves fluidly between Afro-Latin rhythms, hypnotic grooves and moments of explosive improvisation.

The orchestra's flagship performance, Sweet Sweat Set, is a powerful live experience designed to ignite dance floors and immerse audiences in rhythm — a celebration of spontaneity, musicianship and collective energy that turns every show into a shared, unrepeatable moment.

GROOVE BAHIA

Groove Bahia is a vibrant collective of musicians dedicated to bringing the rich rhythms and cultural traditions of Bahia, Brazil, to Australian audiences.

Drawing on the ancestral Afro-Brazilian beats that have shaped the music of Bahia, the group blends the energy of samba-reggae and afoxé with soulful melodies, uplifting harmonies, and contemporary influences.

Led by musicians from Brazil and Australia, Groove Bahia creates powerful live performances that celebrate the cultural fusion at the heart of Brazilian music—where African, Indigenous, and Iberian traditions meet.

ELECTRIC APES

Electric Apes are not from this world—literally. After decades traversing spiral arms, nebulae, and black hole event horizons, the trio crash-landed back on Earth with cosmic frequencies still ringing in their amplifiers. Their sound? Experimental jam alchemy: psychedelic grooves, alien time signatures, and improvisational odysseys that bend space-time. Having witnessed the birth of stars and the collapse of distant dimensions, they now channel those interstellar vibrations into every set. Strap in—this journey warps past, present, and future into one relentless, funky pulse. Electric Apes have returned, and the universe is their jam space. Don’t just listen. Evolve.

Also joining the line up are Brisbane’s epic 7 piece funk/reggae superstars FAT PICNIC, the Sunny Coast’s premier sound THE HEX SOUND SYSTEM crew and the hauntingly beautiful ALISHA TODD.
