Italian Frame drums (tamburello) workshop

Frame drums are some of the oldest instruments in human history. Most cultures have a particular way of making and playing them since ancestral times. In Italy, like the dances that the instrument accompany, “i tamburrelli” are spread all around the Peninsula and have many local techniques.

Join us in this “tamburello” workshop with Salvatore Rossano from the band Santa Taranta. You will be introduced to the functioning, the techniques and the historical and cultural relevance in the healing rituals of Southern Italy. 

[Some “tamburello” will be provided but make sure to bring any frame drum if you have it!]
