International Women's Day Breakfast 2025
Event description
It has been 30 years since the UN's landmark Beijing Declaration on gender equality, and the need for action on rights, equality and empowerment for all is more urgent than ever. As of 2024, Australian women still earn 21.8% less than their male peers. Across the country, 78 women lost their lives to domestic violence last year.
Join Independent Federal MPs Kylea Tink (North Sydney) and Zali Steggall (Warringah) for a panel discussion on gender equality in Australia: our progress to date; risks posed by cultural and political shifts both here and overseas; and what we can do within our own communities to help.
Women's rights are human rights, and all Australians stand to gain from marching forward on better, fairer opportunities for all women and girls. So while previous years' IWD events have been particularly well attended by women in our electorate, this year we're asking guests to extend the invitation to the men and others in their lives as well so that we can share our perspectives and work together towards progress.
