Iyengar Yoga at The Island
Description
As summer turns to autumn, and we begin to welcome in the cooler weather, Bristol BID's weekly yoga sessions migrate from the city's favourite parks to a selection of warmer, indoor venues. Ease into this transition by exploring a range of spaces to practice in with us.
This week's session will be held at The Island. The Island is a multi-disciplinary arts facility, having been repurposed by Artspace Lifespace, but it used to be the Old Bridewell Police Station. Our class will taking place in the venue's Dance Space, on the first floor.
The Space...
There are two entrances to the Island; please access the building via the entrance on Bridewell Street, opposite Rough Trade. It is findable on what3words as: ///flank.scrap.veal. Please ring the buzzer to the Dance Space, on the left hand side of the blue double doors, to be let in.
Please bring your own yoga mat.
The Teacher...
Our refreshing midday class will be led by Elisa, whose sessions combine calming breath work with gentle, accessible movements designed to release tension and maintain balance. Each session focuses on extended stretching of tight muscles, realigning the body, and restoring awareness, leaving you feeling re-focused, and ready for the rest of the day.
Elisa is a qualified Iyengar Yoga instructor who began her practice over ten years ago while managing chronic pain. What started as a physical need soon became a passion for helping others experience the strength, balance, and calm that yoga brings. Find her on Instagram at @healthiness_empowerher.
