The Performance Theme: All entrants are highly encouraged to base their float design around the official annual theme "Shining Bright"

Vehicle & Float Construction Rules

Height & Clearance Barriers: Floats must safely clear low-hanging heritage trees and overhead power lines. Standard utility limits overall height at roughly 4.3 metres from the road surface.

Participant Safety Railings: Any float carrying standing passengers must be fitted with securely bolted safety handrails or protective barriers to prevent accidental falls.

On-Route Operational Guidelines

Strict Throwing Bans: For crowd safety, participants must not throw lollies, promotional materials, or novelties from a moving vehicle into the crowd.

Walking & Choreography Units: Walking groups, marching bands, and dancers are explicitly required to keep pace with the flow of vehicles to prevent large gaps in the parade line.

Judged Competition Criteria: Floats are actively judged on Prince Street. Prizes are awarded based on creative use of colour, audience engagement, and interpretation of the theme.
