Welcome to the James Hardie Modern Homes Forecast 2025 – our second annual report designed to inspire homeowners and trade professionals with the latest insights influencing contemporary home design. The James Hardie Modern Homes Forecast draws on advanced AI, expert insights and research to inspire homeowners and empower trade professionals. This year, we identified key lifestyle themes that are influencing home design. We share how they are being expressed across eight popular, enduring and emerging modern home styles.

AACA Units of Competency:

PROJECT INITIATION AND CONCEPTUAL DESIGN 

PC 18 Be able to apply creative imagination, design precedents, research, emergent knowledge and critical evaluation in formulating and refining concept design options, including the exploration of three-dimensional form and spatial quality.

PC 25 Be able to draw on knowledge from the history and theory of architecture as part of preliminary design research and when developing the conceptual design.

PC 28 Be able to draw on knowledge from building sciences and technology, environmental sciences and behavioural and social sciences as part of preliminary design research and when developing the conceptual design to optimise the performance of the project.

DETAILED DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION

PC 39 Understand how the integration of material selection, structural and construction systems impacts on design outcomes.

Learning outcomes:

At the end of this presentation attendees will;

• Understand how global and local STEEP (Societal, Technological, Environmental, Economic, and Political) factors are driving changes in Australian housing design.
• Identify and explain the four major lifestyle themes shaping modern residential architecture: building efficiency, wellbeing, flexibility, and resilience.
• Evaluate existing and emerging home design styles and architectural strategies to enhance affordability, wellness, sustainability, resilience and adaptability in modern homes.
• Utilise key findings from the Modern Homes Forecast to inform design decisions, material selection, and client consultations.

FAQ

I won't be able to make it to the session, or might miss part of it, will there be a recording that I can catch up on?

Yes, there will be a recording. All registered attendees will receive a link to view it the following week alongside their CPD quiz to receive points. For anyone who isn't registered, it will be made available on CPD Online in a month's time.

How do I get my CPD points?

A CPD quiz will be sent alongside the session recording which you can complete. The quiz will be open for 2 weeks. Certificates will be sent out to those who have completed the quiz after it is closed. Please ensure to check your junk emails 

I no longer wish to attend the session, can I cancel my booking?

Yes, you can cancel and receive a refund by going to your Humanitix Order Confirmation email > Manage Order > Refund/Cancel.

I have a specific question for the speaker / panel. How do I ask it prior to the event?
