James Leclaire

James Leclaire is a Canadian based singersongwriter who mixes folk, rock, classic country, roots, and blues to conjure up his own unique style of storytelling. Although his music often pulls from the hardships of life, whether it be relationships, addictions, inner demons, or depression, his gravely voice cuts a deep feeling of hope and determination. Whether his songs are layered thick with allegories and metaphors or straightforward and direct, James’ songs resonate relatability and realism.

Storytelling has always been at the forefront of James' life. On Oct 1st, 2025, after a successful career in animation as a storyboard artist, director, writer, series creator, and studio co/founder of Jam Filled Entertainment, James took the leap to pursue his lifelong passion of songwriting and performing full time. 

Building up to this integral moment, James recorded 38 songs from 2020-2023 at Bova Sound with Phillip Victor Bova producing. It was here that James was finally able to take his music to the next level. For certain tracks, Phillip was able to bring on harmonicist Mickey Raphael (Nelson/Stapleton/Dylan), guitarist/mandolinist Kevin Breit (Norah Jones), drummer Ed Toth (Doobie Bros.) and Juno nominated pianist and guitarist John Fraser Findlay. 

James started releasing singles from these sessions monthly in August 2023. The first 10 compiled to become his 2024 album Come On In, the following 11 became 2025's Self Deconstruction, while the latest 10 singles formed his June 2026 album The Deal.

James Leclaire est un auteur-compositeur-interprète canadien qui mêle folk, rock, country classique, musique roots et blues pour créer son propre style narratif unique. Bien que sa musique s’inspire souvent des épreuves de la vie, qu’il s’agisse de relations amoureuses, d’addictions, de démons intérieurs ou de dépression, sa voix rauque transmet un profond sentiment d’espoir et de détermination. Que ses chansons soient riches en allégories et métaphores ou qu’elles soient simples et directes, les textes de James résonnent par leur authenticité et leur réalisme.

Raconteur d’histoires, James a toujours placé la narration au cœur de sa vie. Le 1er octobre 2025, après une carrière couronnée de succès dans l’animation en tant que storyboarder, réalisateur, scénariste, créateur de séries et cofondateur du studio Jam Filled Entertainment, James a franchi le pas pour se consacrer à plein temps à sa passion de toujours : l’écriture de chansons et la scène.

En préparation de ce moment décisif, James a enregistré 38 titres entre 2020 et 2023 chez Bova Sound, sous la production de Phillip Victor Bova. C’est là que James a enfin pu faire passer sa musique au niveau supérieur. Pour certains morceaux, Phillip a pu faire appel à l’harmoniciste Mickey Raphael (Nelson/Stapleton/Dylan), au guitariste et mandoliniste Kevin Breit (Norah Jones), au batteur Ed Toth (Doobie Bros.) et au pianiste et guitariste John Fraser Findlay, nominé aux prix Juno.

James a commencé à sortir chaque mois, dès août 2023, des singles issus de ces sessions. Les dix premiers ont été regroupés pour former son album Come On In, sorti en 2024 ; les onze suivants ont donné naissance à Self Deconstruction, sorti en 2025 ; quant aux dix derniers singles, ils ont constitué son album The Deal, sorti en juin 2026.
