Jamie Duncan Trio
Description
Jamie Duncan is an East Bay guitar player whose styles include country, jazz, Americana, and rock n’ roll. Jamie began playing the guitar at the age of 12, and is largely self-taught. He was drawn to the Fender Telecaster after discovering the music of Roy Buchanan in his early 20s, and quickly fell in love with country, jazz, and western swing. The influence of Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Les Paul, Danny Gatton, Wes Montgomery, and Lenny Breau soon followed.
Having spent the last 5 years as a sideman in numerous Bay Area country, Americana, and jazz groups, he has now formed his own group, the core of which includes Tim Rowe (Crying Time, Inner Ear Brigade) on drums, and Joe Kyle Jr. (Howell Devine, The Waybacks) on bass. The trio performs mostly instrumental music, ranging from swing-driven country jazz in the tradition of The Texas Troubadours to moodier, more introspective pieces, with improvisation at the center and a shared approach to bringing these different musical traditions together.
