🌊 Kickstart 2025 with a Day of Fun, Learning, and Adventure at the Marine Discovery Centre! 🌊

Get ready for an unforgettable morning packed with interactive activities, marine exploration, and beachside excitement! Whether you're feeding local sea creatures, diving into virtual reality underwater worlds, or creating your own ocean-inspired art, there's something for every young explorer! 🌟

🎨 Bonus: We’ve got a special guest artist joining us to inspire your creativity!

Here’s what’s in store for the day:

10:00am - 11:30am: Explore the Marine Discovery Centre’s hands-on activities

Aquariums: Meet Big-Bellied Seahorses, Yabbies, Porcupine Fish, and more!
Virtual Reality: Swim with Humpback Whales, Australian Sea Lions, and explore the Great Southern Reef—without getting wet! 🐋🐠
Art Station: Let your creativity flow with materials for ocean-themed crafts (and take your masterpiece home!) 🎨
Kaurna Learning: Discover the rich connection between the Kaurna people and the sea in the interactive Kaurna Meyunna Wodli room.
Interactive Games: Dive into fun with our brand new ocean games and explore marine habitats, sustainable fishing, and more!

11:30am - 12:00pm: Guided Beach Marine Trail 🌴🐚
Take a stroll along Henley Beach with our Marine Scientists and discover the wonders of marine life on our guided beachcombing trail (weather permitting)!

Every child receives a receives a free Beachcombing Sheet to take home.

The Marine Discovery Centre aims to provide the most inspirational discovery learning experiences whilst empowering students and the community to actively protect South Australia's iconic coastal and marine environments.

With this goal in mind, we have been empowering students through inspirational and interactive discovery since 1997.

Operating as part of Star of the Sea School, we provide positive learning experiences that focus on ecological sustainability and Aboriginal culture, including the protection of South Australia's coastal and marine environments.

The Centre's success has been acknowledged with a UNESCO Award for Environmental Education and recognition as a finalist in the Premier's Natural Resources Management Awards.

Our Centre

We are the only coastal and marine educational facility for school-aged students and the broader community in South Australia. We open to the public for public events once a month.

The Marine Discovery Centre features interactive learning stations covering topics such as sustainable fishing, responsible water use, Aboriginal culture and the importance of preserving our marine environments.

Our aquariums feature local marine wildlife species and we provide engaging beachside marine trails to complement the Centre's indoor educational activities.
