Jazz through the Ages with Libby Hammer
Event description
From the smoky clubs of New Orleans to the grand concert halls of the world, jazz is the electrifying story of rhythm, rebellion, and reinvention. Born at the turn of the 20th century from a collision of African, Caribbean, and European musical traditions, jazz grew through the swing of the big band era, the improvisational genius of bebop, and the soulful cries of blues and hard bop.
This performance by Libby Hammer and her quintet, is a journey through that rich, ever-evolving history—celebrating the legends, the grooves, and the spirit that made jazz not just music, but a movement.
Libby Hammer has been prowling Perth’s jazz stages for many years and is well-known for creating splendid jazz experiences that are alive with the uncontrived joy of story-telling and music-making.
