    Event description

Jeremy Sawkins is one of the Shoalhaven’s best kept musical secrets. Having

relocated from Sydney to the Illawarra in 2016 then migrating further south in 2020,

he has been busier than ever performing and touring since the end of Covid

    lockdowns.

A member of the Australian music community since the late 1970’s as a performing

guitarist, composer, bandleader and recording artist, Jeremy has shared the stage

and recording studios with many notable musicians. Having performed all around

Australia, he has also performed in Europe and Asia and is regarded as one of

    Australia’s most versatile jazz guitarists.

Recent performances have seen Jeremy sharing the stage with such luminaries as

Sting and Dominic Miller (guests at Paul Mason’s Jeff Beck homage) Katie Noonan,

Wendy Matthews, Kristin Berardi, Melinda Schneider, Ella Hooper, Wanderlust, Alma

Orquestra and Glenn Shorrock among others. He performed at the 2023 Adelaide

Guitar Festival with Paul Mason and James Muller.

In May 2024 Jeremy was the featured ‘Artist in Residence’ for ABC Radio’s digital Jazz

    channel.

Apart from his inclusion in many audio recordings since the 1980’s, Jeremy has

released 5 albums as leader featuring his own compositions. “Toys” (1994)

“Southpaw” (2001) “Jazz Organism ‘Live’ in Dublin” (2010) “Artefact” JS Organ

    Quartet (2016) “Somnambience” (2021)

The JS Band was formed in 2022 for the launch of Jeremy’s critically acclaimed solo

acoustic guitar album “Somnambience” and performs music composed by Jeremy as

well as standards and rare compositions from local and international jazz artists. The

group’s individual members bring a wealth of experience and creativity to the stage

and share many years of musical history with Jeremy.
