Join Jersey City Connects for a 3-mile hike at Ramapo Mountain State Forest.

THE TRAIL

The Yellow Trail, East Shore Drive, and Foxcroft Road Loop is a 3-mile hiking trail near Oakland, New Jersey. With an elevation gain of 500 feet, this moderately challenging hike offers scenic views of lush forests, rocky paths, and even glimpses of the New York City skyline. It's an excellent option for beginner hikers seeking a bit of adventure without being overwhelmed.

Transportation is included in the ticket price! Your ticket price covers more than just the hike; it also covers the essential fees required to keep our organization running smoothly. Your support allows us to continue organizing fantastic outdoor adventures for everyone.

PACKING LIST

The weather in late March can be unpredictable, with the potential for cool mornings and warm afternoons, so dressing in layers is key. Here is what we recommend to wear on your hike:

Clothing Layers

• Base Layer: Merino wool for moisture-wicking and warmth (e.g., Merino Tech or Smartwool)
• (1) Insulating Layer: Fleece or wool sweater for added warmth or (2) Outer Shell: Down jacket or insulated outer layer for wind protection

Gear Essentials

• Hiking Boots
• Water: At least 1 liter (e.g., 3 Poland Spring bottles)
• Snacks: High-energy options like trail mix, apples, jerky, etc.
• Trekking poles: recommended for stability
• DO NOT BUY THESE TREKKING POLES FROM AMAZON!
• Backpack

Accessories

• Hat
• Scarf
• Gloves
• Socks: Merino wool (e.g., Darn Tough)
• Sunglasses

EVENT DETAILS

9:00 AM – Meet inside Le Cafe Coffee (444 Warren St)

9:15 AM – Depart for Ramapo

10:00 AM – Arrive at the trailhead

12:45 PM - Finish Hike

1:00 PM - Eat lunch at Pizzeria Mandara

1:45 PM - Head back to Jersey City
