Jessi Rebel & Aunty Lisa Launch Night
Event description
We are so excited to share that proud Wiradjuri artist Jessi Rebel will be holding her very first “solo” exhibition next month at Murran Gallery. Although, as Jessi says, it won’t really be a solo—she knew from the very beginning that she wanted to share this milestone with someone incredibly special: her Aunty Lisa.
Growing up watching her Aunty paint, Jessi was inspired and encouraged to pursue her own art practice. Together, they will be presenting their works and stories through their exhibition “Baanyanha”, which means “to give” in Wiradjuri. The title reflects the way Aunty Lisa gave Jessi the confidence, knowledge (and sometimes the push!) to follow her own creative path.
To have these two powerful artists share their journeys side by side is an honour for us at Murran Gallery. We cannot wait to welcome community into this space to celebrate their art, stories, and connection.
