Gaza, Zionism and Jewishness: A View from the US and Australia
Event description
Please join us for the first of our Jewish Council Conversations, with guest Peter Beinart.
As we approach the anniversary of October 7, and one year into Israel’s destruction of Palestinian life in Gaza, a large and growing number of Jewish people, in Australia and around the world, are questioning their relationship with Israel and Zionism. Many Jews have come to see Israel’s actions as incompatible with Jewish values and the lessons of Jewish history. This reckoning promises to have far reaching consequences, including for the life and politics of Jewish communities and their institutions.
We will consider these questions in our conversation with Peter Beinart, reflecting on what it means to be Jewish at this time, and on what similarities and differences might exist between the Australian and US contexts.

Please share any questions you'd like us to cover when getting your ticket. We will ask a selection of these questions during the conversation.
Tickets for this event are free, however we are collecting donations for Palestine Australia Relief and Action (PARA). You can read more about PARA on their website:https://para.org.au/
We look forward to hosting more Jewish Council Conversations, with guests such as Dr Gabor Mate. These events will take place online and in person.
