FAQs

• What will the night involve?

  We'll start with a fun game where we're all on our feet and chatting.

  Then a little break to grab a snack or glass of wine/beer/water.

  After that, traditional speed dating! You'll face someone else and have a little chat for 3.5 minutes (woosh! that went fast!) and circle around until you've have a chat with everyone of the opposite gender.

  At the end everyone will have time to chat with each other casually, in case you wanted to pick up with someone where you left off!

• How does the 'matching' part work?

  Once you register, your name will be put on our match card, which everyone receives. After each conversation, everyone is asked to write a little comment or tick/cross next to the name. At the end of the night these cards are handed in, and an email will be sent to both people if there is a match!

• What if I've never been speed dating before!?

  Don't worry - most people are in the same boat!! The evening is designed to be relaxed, fun and low-pressure. You don't need to prepare anything, just comes as you are, be yourself and enjoy meeting some lovely new people.

• Where is the event?

  The location for the event will be release 24hrs beforehand! It will be somewhere in Caulfield :)

• Is this event LGBTQ+ friendly?

  This event is designed for straight Jewish singles. We'd love to create more opportunities for connection across the Jewish community, and hopefully host a dedicated event for queer Jewish singles in the future!

• Do I need to be religious to attend?

  Not at all! Jewish identity and connection looks different for everyone. Whether you're religious, traditional, secular or wrestling, you are welcome here.

• What if I'm shomer shabbat / kosher - will there be a match for me?

  This is an open event, so we're expecting a mix of Jewish singles, from religious to secular. While everyone's approach to Judaism and what they're looking for may be different, you never know who you'll meet or where a conversation may lead.

  We'd also love to organise an event specifically for religious Jewish singles in the future! If that's something you'd be interested in we'd love to hear from you - please reach out via email: matchmaker.tamar@gmail.com

• Will there be an equal number of men and women?

  Upon registering you'll write your gender and age. We have a capped number for both genders, so there should be an equal number on the night. Numbers can change as bookings come in, but we'll do our best to create a great experience for all attendees.
