JFA Purple Orange - FREE Co-Design Training for Local Councils
Description
Do you work for a Local Council? Are you designing a new project, policy, program, initiative and want to incorporate more co-design processes throughout your organisation but not sure how?
An initiative of the JFA Purple Orange-Road To Employment- Community of Practice: Local Councils and Disability Employment, this training tackles the specific challenges and opportunities around co design in local councils.
Co-design is an inclusive, collaborative, human-centred process in which a group of people with relevant skills, experience and interests come together to provide advice and make decisions on a project, policy, program, initiative, process or product.
It is a method we can all use – including individuals, service providers, businesses, community organisations, and all levels of government.
However, local councils have found that lack of knowledge on what the co design process is, how to meet the expectations of the community and how to build confidence around engaging people with lived experience are just some commonly reported barriers to using co design.
Our Disability Inclusion Training: Co-Design training is designed to tackle these barriers and give employees, volunteers and community members the knowledge and necessary skills to incorporate inclusive co-design processes both personally and professionally.
Facilitated by people with both lived and professional experience in the sector, this training offers a fresh perspective and a judgment-free learning environment.

What is co-design and how is it relevant to the local council space?
