Join us for a special night of big band jazz as the JMI Jazz Orchestra performs music from the legendary album Atomic Basie recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra. Released in 1958, Atomic Basie is one of the most influential big band recordings of the era, winning 2 Grammys at the 1st Annual Grammy Awards in 1959. Featuring the arrangements of Neal Hefti, the JMI Jazz Orchestra is excited to present these works in its entirety from cover to cover, sounding as fresh today as they did nearly 70 years ago!
The JMI Jazz Orchestra is an 18-piece big band made of up of students and staff from the Jazz Music Institute led by Josh Hatcher. The JMI Jazz Orchestra performs regularly around South East Queensland at a variety of venues and festivals.GIG DETAILS:
