Jocelyn Mackenzie at Lotta Studios (New Haven, CT) July 10
Event description
In collaboration with Westville Village Renaissance Alliance & MeAndTheOtherMomShows bring Jocelyn Mackenzie to New Haven. Righteous Babe recording artist Mackenzie comes to town with her band, while on tour. Last in New Haven in 2023, Jocelyn Mackenzie is back for another visit, in support of the live album COME ON - Live at C’Mon Everybody, January 26, 2024.
Jocelyn Mackenzie a brilliant visual artist as well (see her album covers) put her first solo album out in 2021, and has been releasing new music since. She's also well known as part of the cheerfully amazing indie trio Pearl and the Beard. She's also co-writer of the Rutka musical. She is a medium, a mermaid, and you've probably heard her voice on a commercial or five. One of the most delightful humans you could meet, she and bandmate Harry Bolles are a pure treat to watch as they collaborate together live.
From her bio: Jocelyn Mackenzie is a Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter, artist, and psychic medium. Her debut solo album PUSH is a chamber pop homage to healing through radical self love. The fearlessness in her songwriting combined with the orchestral arrangements of each song alchemizes her pain into a poultice, making the album itself a testimony to hope, heartbreak, and what it means to be human.
Joining Jocelyn Mackenzie on the bill is Sarah Golley from right here in New Haven. Sarah Golley combines an eclectic mixture of genres, weaved with sincere lyricism, using a keyboard, her voice, and a looper. Her influences include a background in musical theater, Romantic and 20th century post-tonal composers, choral singing, jazz, and visual lyricists. Sarah uses music to grow as a human. She hopes others will relate to her journey on this strange and beautiful planet
