John Cheshire's Last Hurrah
Description
Please note: John's memorial has a new venue
Because so many of you want to be there, we've moved John's memorial to Welcome to Thornbury and increased capacity significantly. Please read the details below carefully and note the change. This way everyone can be in the same space and share their love for John together.
If you have any questions or run into any issues, please get in touch with Mon at The Last Hurrah on mon@lasthurrahfunerals.com.au, or call or text her on 0402 475 331.
We’re gathering to remember and celebrate the life of John Cheshire, a man who left sparkle, smiles and splendour everywhere he went, on Friday 2nd October at Welcome To Thornbury.
Come from 11:30am for a drink, some music, and plenty of hugs before the ceremony begins at 12pm.
Afterwards, we’ll stay on for a wake at the same venue, with food, drinks and plenty of time to share stories, memories and laughter with the many people who loved John.
Please RSVP as soon as you can using the button below. It genuinely helps us plan the day.
Memorial Card
We’d love you to share a message, photo, memory or story on John’s online memorial card. Everything shared will be included in a keepsake book his daughters are creating for the family. You can access the card via the link below
Livestream
If you're unable to attend in person, please join us via the livestream below. From that link you can watch live, watch later, and download a copy of John's service.
Dresscode
John believed everyone should feel free to be unapologetically themselves. In his honour, we invite you to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable, confident and most like you.
Whether that’s bright colours, bold patterns, shiny fabrics, a favourite outfit, or something more traditional, please come as yourself.
Donations
In lieu of flowers, John's family are asking for donations to Rainbow Railroad, who help LGBTQI+ people get to safety around the world. Equality was something he fought for loudly his whole life, so this felt like the right way to keep that going.

Parking and Public Transport
Free parking is available in and around the area, particularly at Croxton Park Hotel, and the 86 tram stops just out the front. If you can take Public Transport this is a great option.
Accessibility
The Greenhouse is fully wheelchair accessible.
Note: John's memorial will be held at Welcome To Thornbury, not The Last Hurrah HQ.
