Event description

All Saints’ College, in partnership with Dymocks Booksellers, is delighted to present an evening with The Honourable John McKechnie AO KC in Conversation with Lorraine Horsley, to celebrate the release of his compelling memoir My Life in Crime: A Tapestry of Cases.

About the Book - My Life in Crime: A Tapestry of Cases

“After a year in practice, I received a brief to defend a youth accused, with his friend, of manslaughter. There are times when a chance event changes the course of one’s life. This was my event. Although unaware at the time, I was about to embark on a life of crime.”

In a career spanning five decades, barrister, prosecutor, judge and former Commissioner of the Corruption and Crime Commission, John McKechnie AO KC has spent his life at the heart of the criminal justice system in Western Australia.

In this engaging and entertaining memoir, McKechnie shares a candid, sometimes humorous, and always insightful look into the criminal cases, big and small, that have shaped his legal journey. Woven through the narrative are his ‘quirky cases’, bite-sized stories of unusual legal curiosities, rich with humanity and wit.

My Life in Crime is a rare window into the courtroom and beyond, offering readers a deeper understanding of how the law works and how it touches our lives in unexpected ways.
