Event description

Twelve & Thirteen is a bar and bat mitzvah volunteering program. Each month, dozens of young adults and parents participate in unique volunteering experiences with our partner charities, broadening their awareness of social issues. Families participate in hands-on volunteering sessions with our charity partners to give back. It’s flexible, fun and rewarding.

Become a Facilitator

Our facilitators are valuable members of our team delivering our 2 hour volunteering sessions and ensuring our families have the most rewarding giving experience possible. They include community and youth leaders, alumni parents and university students. They all bring a shared community connectedness and a commitment to growing the next generation of givers.

As facilitators and session leaders, they are the lynchpin between participants and partner charities, guiding our families on a unique year long journey of giving. We’d love to have you on board and have indicated below what is involved in joining the team.

The Facilitators role includes:

  • Co-facilitating up to 6 volunteer sessions between the months of February to September. Our sessions run for two hours so we estimate 3 hours max including travel time, set up and pack down if required. We would hope that each facilitator can commit to minimum 2-3 sessions per year.
  • Attending an Opening Workshop at the beginning of Feb which kicks off the program and a Closing Ceremony later in the year to celebrate the achievements of the participants.
  • Attending occasional facilitator meetings, including an initial briefing and planning meeting before the program commences each year.
  • Keen to provide input on the direction of the program, including future planning and developing relationships with new charity partners.
  • Contributing to communication via email and WhatsApp before/after a session.
  • Having warm and friendly interactions with participants, partner charities and Board or Committee members.
  • Being an advocate for the program within the community.
  • Being committed, reliable and personable with a positive approach.

The ideal person will have:

  • A positive and flexible can do attitude
  • A passion for philanthropy, giving back and helping people in need
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Initiative, ability to generate new ideas, adaptability to change
