Join us and celebrate a BIG WIN for our ocean!
Event description
At Surfrider, we're celebrating!
After years of relentless campaigning, we have achieved a monumental victory! The world's largest seismic blasting project in the Southern Ocean has been officially abandoned!
TGS, the multinational data giant, has withdrawn their plans for seismic blasting over 7 million hectares of ocean off the coasts of Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania. This is a win for coastal communities and the future of healthy oceans worldwide!
Together, we’ve sent a clear message to fossil fuel exploration companies: the oceans are NOT for sale.
That's right:
- No more plans to blast 7.7M hectares of our southern ocean!
- People power works!
- This win belongs to all of us
Join Us in Celebration!
We invite you to celebrate this victory with us to acknowledge the efforts of everyone involved, especially our Surf Coast & Tasmania Branches, whose dedication has been truly inspiring.
During the call you'll hear from:
- Drew McPherson, National Campaigns Director, will share how local communities come together to unite over this issue to make real change
- Ally King, Surfrider Branch volunteer, will share her involvement behind the scenes and what her branch did that made the win possible
- Steph Curley, Surfrider Foundation CEO, will share why we need to continue fighting to protect Australia’s coastlines from the destructive impacts of fossil fuel exploration.
