Event description
Coined as 'Australia's Silicon Valley', Cremorne is home to over 700 businesses and 10,000 workers while being home to some of Australia's unicorn companies including Carsales, SEEK, MYOB, REA Group, and several co-working spaces.
You are invited to join our University of Melbourne x Wade Institute's Master of Entrepreneurship students on a 2.5-hour walking tour of Cremorne with our expert guide Desmond John, and hear from guest speakers at key sites.
Some of the areas we aim to cover:
- The evolution of Cremorne - From Industrial Origins to Major Tech Cluster.
- The Startups, Scaleups, Unicorns, Multinationals, VCs and Co-working spaces - such as LaunchVic, CarSales, Birchal and Cremorne Digital Hub

Meet
Please arrive by 1.45pm for a 2pm start at Richmond Station (outside Black Drum Cafe, 23 Swan St, Richmond - see map)
For those leaving from Ormond College: Take the 1.15pm #19 tram from Stop 13 - Gatehouse/Royal Pde Tram Stop. Alight at Stop 5 - Melbourne Central Station and take the Lilydale Train from Platform 4 to Richmond Station.

4.30pm at Cremorne Digital Hub (80 Balmain St, Cremorne)

Desmond is a Community & Ecosystem Builder in the Australian Startup Economy, running events and tours of the Ecosystem under “Vibe Guide Ventures”. Once a Backpacker turned Tour Guide, Desmond has spent over 8 years taking Melbourne's visitors around the city he grew up in. He has also worked at the Victorian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, raised capital for startups in Cremorne at Birchal, ran accelerator programs and also helps run events at The Startup Network, Australia’s biggest independent Startup Community.
