We would like to welcome the Indigenous Women's Financial Wellness Network to join us as we yarn and all things Financial Self Care & Women's Empowerment.
Join our facilitator Larisha Jerome, a Jarowair, Wakka Wakka & Wulli Wulli woman and our Special Guest Binowee Bayles, proud Eora, Wonnarua, Birri Gubba, Gungala and Wulli Wulli woman.
Binowee is a proud Koori woman, born and raised on Gadigal Country in Redfern, Sydney; and is the second youngest of her seven sisters. Her mother descends from the Eora and Wonnarua Nations of NSW and her Father descends from the Birri Gubba, Gungalu and Wulli Wulli Nations from Central to North QLD.
Binowee’s family has been actively advocating for equality and Land Rights since the 1960’s and today Binowee continues to follow their legacy in many ways.
Binowee is the Head of Indigenous Programs at AMP Limited, providing cultural oversight to both AMP and Collimate (formerly AMP Capital), throughout her five-year tenure. She is responsible for the development and implementation of the organisation’s Reconciliation Action Plan, which continues to deepen our shared connections, strengthens inclusion and diversity, and promote economic inclusion throughout AMP’s diversified financial services business lines.
Over the past 20 years Binowee has worked in the Finance sector with NRMA/IAG and CUA, State Government with Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, local Aboriginal community organisations and NGO’s. Binowee has qualifications in financial services, hospitality, tourism, media: radio broadcasting, business administration, community services and has her Cert IV in training and assessing. Binowee also represented Australia’s First Nations Peoples at the United Nations assembly on Climate Change and is a passionate advocate for reconciliation through collaborative change.
Binowee is serious about reconciliation in Australia and excited to share Indigenous perspectives and exploring how ancient wisdom can be applied to resolve the common issues faced in the workplace and everyday life. Binowee believes in Indigenous and non-Indigenous working together respectfully, coexisting is harmony, now and well into the future to make the changes that are needed.

This session will run for approximately 45 mins with time for questions at the end.
