Event description

This 2-day course will provide you with a practical and clinically relevant approach to treating joint related pain and movement limitation.

The Joint Therapeutics course includes passive and active joint mobilisation techniques for the whole body, with a focus on helping you make clinically reasoned decisions on when, where and why you would utilise them.
Learn how to identify joint related dysfunction quickly and effectively and then how apply the right technique with progressions, to get immediate results.

This course integrates the most current evidence relating to joint mobilisation principles and mechanism of action, with a goal oriented focus to reduce pain and improve outcomes with your patients.

This highly practical course covers the following:
Describe the mechanisms and neurophysiology of joint mobilisation techniques and pain modulation
Attendees will be able to explore and explain the underlying mechanisms and neurophysiological responses associated with various joint mobilisation techniques, and how they can be applied to reduce pain and improve movement.
Integrate pain neuroscience principles into manual therapy
Attendees will be able to incorporate contemporary pain neuroscience into the assessment and manual therapy treatment of patients with movement-related pain.
Apply progressive manual therapy techniques
Attendees will be able to apply and adapt manual therapy approaches to effectively assess and treat functional movement deficits and movement-related pain.
Perform physical assessments
Attendees will integrate objective physical assessment methods, including functional movement testing, orthopaedic special tests, hand-held dynamometry, and algometry, into their manual therapy practice.
Gain a deeper understanding of 3D musculoskeletal anatomy and joint biomechanics
Attendees will explore joint biomechanics and anatomy in three dimensions using detailed presentation notes and complete anatomy software.
Identify clinical presentations of joint-related pain
Attendees will understand and discuss the clinical signs, symptoms, and mechanisms of injury associated with common joint-related pain presentations.
Apply joint mobilisation techniques across all regions of the body
Attendees will demonstrate proficiency in applying both passive and active joint mobilisation techniques to the foot and ankle, knee, hip, sacroiliac joint, lumbar spine, thoracic spine, cervical spine, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand.
Engage in case study discussions
Attendees will participate in discussions and apply joint mobilisation techniques within case study activities to enhance clinical decision-making skills.
Discuss the scientific evidence on joint mobilisation
Attendees will be guided through the scientific evidence related to the mechanisms of action, pain science, and the efficacy of joint mobilisation techniques.
Transition from passive to active treatment
Attendees will develop strategies to bridge the gap between passive joint mobilisation techniques and active patient participation in treatment.
Enhance clinical reasoning and assessment skills
Attendees will improve their assessment techniques and clinical reasoning abilities, allowing for more effective treatment planning and execution.
Teach and apply home-based self-mobilisation techniques
Attendees will be able to instruct patients in self-mobilisation techniques to support ongoing management and recovery at home.
