Jonah Garven Quartet
Event description
Jonah Garven is an exciting new voice in the South-East Queensland jazz scene, bringing fresh energy and deep reverence for the tradition to the piano. Currently honing his craft as a Bachelor of Jazz Performance student at the Queensland Conservatorium, Jonah leads a dynamic quartet featuring some of Brisbane’s finest young talents: Angus Bryer (saxophone), Ky Fulwood (bass), and Jayden Fulwood (drums).
Drawing inspiration from legends like Joe Henderson, Roy Hargrove, Sam Rivers, and John Coltrane, the quartet weaves a rich tapestry of jazz history into their performances. Their setlist is a vibrant journey through swing, blues, bebop, hard-bop, and bossa nova, blending timeless classics with their own modern twists. Whether you’re a lifelong jazz enthusiast or new to the genre, the Jonah Garven Quartet delivers soulful melodies, fiery improvisation, and irresistible rhythm—a night not to be missed!
