Event - Where do the proceeds go and how much of them?

Accepted Answer

Ticket prices cover the cost of the food and processing/taxes. In addition, each ticket includes a $10 donation to the Devey Family. If you are donating an item or service to the auction, then you will get a $10-$25 discount on your meal ticket.

All proceeds from the event and auction directly support the Devey family in the wake of their loss.

Meal - Are there group discounts?

Purchases of more than 5 tickets will automatically have a $5 per ticket discount applied.Gather is also offering a la carte, made-to-order food that evening off their delicious regular menu. You may also consider purchasing a couple of pizzas this way to feed several people as an alternative to the buffet pricing.

Auction Donations - I want to donate to the auction, but I don't know what I can donate...

Think outside the box! A great auction donation doesn’t have to come from a store.Consider your talents, skills, services, connections—or even something valuable you already own. Maybe you can offer photography, music lessons, tutoring, landscaping, babysitting, a home-cooked dinner, professional services, a weekend getaway, or another unique experience.And take a look around your house, garage, or storage room. Have something valuable you know you’ll never use again or have been saying you’ll “get around to selling” someday? It might make the perfect auction item!Gift cards, event tickets, sports memorabilia, electronics, tools, recreation equipment, collectibles, new or like-new items, vacation stays, and experiences are all welcome.Be creative—the best auction items are often things money can’t ordinarily buy!

Auction Donations - How do I valuate and provide proof of the value of my item?

Accepted Answer

If you're donating a retail item, you can usually validate its value by searching up the item online and providing a screenshot of a similar (or ideally the exact item) available online retail. Considering the item's age, condition and any defects, please valuate the item accordingly.

Auction Donations - How do I valuate and provide proof of the value of my service?

Accepted Answer

If you offer your service online or in person, you can provide a picture of a physical service menu in your office or a screenshot of your offering online with the price attached/included. If you generally offer your service more unofficially, you can screenshot a redacted or unredacted invoice or Venmo receipt of someone who has paid you that much for the same service in the past. If you haven't offered the service before or don't have evidence of being previously hired, depending on the skill required, you can look up others online who are offering the service and valuate your offering accordingly (i.e. if low skill required, match what others are asking for the same service; if high skill and experience is required, consider commensurately adjusting your valuation to match your skill level and experience and your demand in the marketplace compared to the comparable offer). Auction Purchases - How do I pay for items I purchase at the auction?

We have a tap-to-pay Square Account that will be present at the event. If you purchase an item online, we can email you the invoice link via Square.Venmo is also an option on a case-by-case basis.

Accepted Answer

You have until midnight on October 31, 2026 to contact the seller and arrange for the redemption of your auction purchase.Please have your emailed receipt from your purchase with Square available to prove your auction winning.If you are unable to contact the seller in that timeframe, please reach out to the host on the "Contact Us" form.If we are unable to reach them, you are eligible for a refund through November 3, 2026.If your purchase is not as described, please reach out to the host by November 3, 2026 for consideration of a refund.All sales final after November 3, 2026 as the money will have been delivered to the beneficiary family at that point and you should then consider your expenditure a donation.

Auction Purchases - What is the online auction?

Starting immediately and going right up until the live auction, items and services will be put up on The Devey Family Benefit Auction Facebook group for pre-bids. Bidding starts at $5 for all items. Bids are made in the comments section and can only be made by members of the group.The bid that is the highest at the time the item or service goes up in the live auction will be the starting bid at the live auction. If no bids are made at the live auction, the highest bidder online will win the item or service. Bidders online can continue to bid live during the auction. The auction will either be livestreamed into the Facebook Group or a designated volunteer will be updating the appropriate item thread live with the current bid and updating the auctioneer when an online bidder has placed a bid.During the live auction, online bidders may see the Facebook Group host apparently "upbidding" themselves, when in reality, they are reporting live bids of attendees from the event. Items and services that do not make it to the auctioneer's agenda before the night is over will remain up for auction in the group until midnight, October 31, 2026.
