Description

Join Angie from Piniri Wellbeing, Liz from Reson8 Retreats and guest players for a gentle, immersive sound bath designed to calm the mind, relax the body, support the nervous system and invite deep rest.

We all find different ways to recharge, but how often do we give ourselves space to simply rest?

Not exercise.

Not socialise.

Not achieve.

Not care for someone else.

This is why we created fortnightly sound journeys - a space to pause, breathe, receive, and be held by the sounds. Because when we put our own oxygen mask on first and reset, we have more capacity for our loved ones.

Using crystal singing bowls, chimes, Tibetan bowls, drums and rattles, this heart-centred and intuitive sound journey offers a restorative pause from the busyness of everyday life; a space to support your nervous system, settle inward and reconnect with yourself.

No experience is necessary, just come as you are, get comfortable and allow yourself to receive.

About your hosts

Angie Liu, Piniri Wellbeing

Angie teaches women's qigong classes in Canberra, and offers seasonal retreats, and Five Elements wellness guidance. Her work is grounded in nervous system regulation and gentle, self-guided healing, helping people move from depletion into a place of calm.

Elizabeth Cotterell, Reson8 Retreats

Liz offers soul-led small group retreats, sound baths, and 1:1 multidimensional energy work. Drawing on Reiki, sound, and intuitive guidance, she creates space for people to reconnect to their mind, body, and spirit.

This collaboration provides restorative sound journeys for the inner north Canberra community in a beautiful, calming space.

Hosted at DKB Hall in Dickson (next to Cafe Stepping Stone), the modern, climate-controlled venue is spacious and central with easy parking, and its high ceilings and glass walls open onto views of the community garden on one side and established trees on the other.

What to bring

Please wear comfy clothing and bring:

  • A yoga mat or similar to lie on

  • A blanket

  • A pillow and/or bolster

  • An eye pillow

  • A water bottle

Preparation and arrival info

We recommend drinking plenty of water both before and after your sound bath, as the deep relaxation can be dehydrating and many people find good hydration helps them feel more grounded afterwards.

Doors open 15 minutes before the session and close at 3:55pm. Please arrive 10–15 minutes before the session starts so you have time to use the bathroom, settle into the space, and get comfortable. We ask that you switch your phone off, or set it to airplane mode, before the sound bath begins so the whole group can fully unwind.

Important — doors close at 3:55pm

Out of respect for the rest of the group, doors will close at 3:55pm and late arrivals will not be admitted. No refunds will be issued for late arrivals or no-shows, so please plan to arrive with time to spare.

Your health and comfort

Sound healing is generally a gentle and relaxing experience, but it isn't suitable for everyone.

If you have epilepsy or are sensitive to sound, are pregnant, have a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, or have a serious cardiac or mental health condition, we recommend you reconsider attending or speak with your doctor before booking.

By attending, you acknowledge that you take part at your own risk, and that Piniri Wellbeing and Reson8 Retreats are not responsible for any adverse effects experienced during or after the session.

Please reach out if you have any questions, we're happy to answer them!

FAQs

  • What might I experience during the sound bath?

No two people respond to a sound bath the same way, so try not to go in with expectations. As the vibrations move through the room, you might notice your thoughts slowing down, sensations like tingling or heaviness in your limbs, or unexpected emotions surfacing. You may also feel very little and simply enjoy an hour of quiet. Whatever comes up (or doesn't) is a completely normal part of the experience.

  • Do I need any experience with meditation or sound healing to attend?

Not at all — this session is gentle and welcoming for complete beginners as well as anyone who's attended a sound bath before. All you need to do is lie back, breathe, and let the sound do the rest.

  • Is it okay if I fall asleep?

Yes — plenty of people doze off partway through, and that's not a problem at all. Drifting off is often a sign your nervous system has properly switched off for a while, which is exactly what this time is for.

If you know you tend to snore, lying on your side rather than flat on your back can help reduce it. If it happens anyway, one of us may gently give you a nudge so the space stays peaceful for everyone.

  • What should I bring?

Please wear comfy clothing and bring a yoga mat (or similar to lie on), a blanket, a pillow and/or bolster, an eye pillow, and a water bottle. We recommend drinking plenty of water both before and after the session too.

  • What time should I arrive?

Doors open 15 minutes before the session and close at 3:55pm. Please arrive 10–15 minutes before the session starts, so you have time to use the bathroom, settle into the space, and get comfortable.

  • What happens if I'm running late?

Doors close at 3:55pm and, out of respect for the rest of the group, late arrivals can't be admitted. No refunds are issued for late arrivals or no-shows, so please plan to arrive with time to spare.

  • Where can I find the venue?

Our wonderful venue is DKB Hall at Common Ground, right next to Cafe Stepping Stone in Dickson, adjacent to the playing fields and bike path.

Parking is available directly outside the venue, with additional parking off Hawdon Place near the playing fields.

  • Is a sound bath safe for everyone?

Sound healing is generally gentle and relaxing, but it isn't right for everyone. If you have epilepsy or are sensitive to sound, are pregnant, have a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, or have a serious cardiac or mental health condition, we recommend you reconsider attending or speak with your doctor before booking.

  • Is there support available if I can't afford a ticket?

We want this space to be inclusive and accessible to everyone. If cost is a barrier for you, please reach out to us directly - we're happy to see what we can do.

  • How can I connect with the hosts?

You can find all of Angie's offerings on her website at www.piniri.com.au, and connect with Liz and find out what's on at Reson8 Retreats via reson8retreats.com.au.
