[FILM LAUNCH]: We're On This Journey Together
Description
We are excited to be holding an online launch for this film to share it with the broader health and social services sector and our community, follow by a lived experience panel. The panelists joining us are participants from the short film: Ariel (she/her), Oak (they/them) and Sudhashree (she/her). The panel will be facilitated by Emrys (he/him) who is LELAN's Peer Training Coordinator and supported the production of the short film.
In Australia LGBTIQA+ communities have been identified as a priority group in our National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement and it is well documented that the Queer community faces significant discrimination and barriers to accessing healthcare.
This short film is aimed at health systems broadly as a source of education about what individual professionals and services can do to help close the queer health equity gap and reduce barriers to accessing care.
*When we say health professionals this includes admin staff at health-related services, allied health professionals, peer workers, GP’s, nurses, surgeons, psychiatrists, support workers and more.
It can also be a source of education for family, kin, friends, and the broader community about some of the additional barriers LGBTIQA+ folks face just to access the same health care as everyone else.
The format of the event will be:
5.30pm Acknowledgements, Introductions, and Housekeeping
5.40pm Film Screening
6.00pm Lived experience panel
6.30pm Q&A Section
7.00pm Closing out
Please note all times are in ACST - Tarntanya (Adelaide) time.
Upon registering for the event you will receive the Zoom link via email.
