Judy Small TWL
Event description
Judy Small has been described as the Grande Dame of Australian folk music! Well known and greatly loved for her feminist and political songs - which have been recorded by Ronnie Gilbert, Eric Bogle, The McCalmans, The Corries, Charlie King and Priscilla Herdman among others, as well as translated into several different languages - she has toured throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Australia and New Zealand, producing twelve albums and hundreds of songs.
In 2013 Judy was made a Member of the Order of Australia for her work as a songwriter and recording artist. In the same year she was appointed as a Judge with the Federal Circuit Court of Australia and retired fully from performing.
Now retired from the bench, Judy has returned to the stage - much to the pleasure of fans old and new - and is enjoying singing for an audience again. This is her first Sydney concert since her return.
The Women’s Library Newtown is delighted to be hosting her return performance as a much needed fundraiser for our volunteer organisation!
