July 2025 Lunch and Learn
Event description
Join us on July 8th, 2025 for our monthly Lunch and Learn. This month, editor and writer Malcolm McDowell Woods, will present Wandering Wisconsin: The History and Geography of the Ice Age Trail.
The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a more than 1,000-mile journey around the state of Wisconsin and a walk through Wisconsin’s geographic history. This winding path roughly follows the outline of the last major glaciers to claw their way across the state - forever altering the landscape.
In this Lunch and Learn, author and freelance journalist Malcolm McDowell Woods will provide a fascinating look back at the last ice age, discuss how these mighty sheets of ice left their mark on our state, and share observations and suggestions for those looking to get out on the trail.
Woods, a former newspaper and magazine editor, is currently a lecturer in the Journalism and Media Studies program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and freelance writer. More than a decade ago, he hiked portions of the trail with a writing partner for a proposed book on the trail. He is the author of the novel, What the Tide Leaves Behind.
