Travel instructions

The Museum is located at North Terrace, Adelaide, between the Art Gallery and the State Library. A tram stops directly outside the Museum otherwise other public transport options are available.

Entry instructions

The Museum has accessible ramps at both the front and rear entrances. To help plan your visit you can view a short video on the Museum’s website. Google ‘SA Museum accessibility’ & scroll to the bottom of the webpage.

After entry instructions

Meet in the Main Foyer where staff will direct you to the workshop space.

Toilet location

Accessible toilets in the workshop space will be highlighted to participants on arrival. Museum toilets are on the ground floor via the Mammals Gallery. An accessible toilet is available. A parents’ room is also available on level 1 and includes a sink and microwave.

Accessible parking

There is one accessible car park at the rear of the Museum, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Entry to the car park is through the boom gate on Morgan Thomas Lane, off Kintore Avenue. Please ensure your valid disability parking permit is displayed. If the park is already in use visitors can be dropped off at the Museum’s rear door. Alternative accessible parking is also available at: Wilson Parking, North Terrace (opposite the Museum) and U-Park, Gawler Place.

Lift Access

There is lift and stair access to the workshop space. Some larger power chairs may have difficulty navigating this heritage listed building. If you have inquiries about access, please contact us at education@samuseum.sa.gov.au

Wheelchair access

Wheelchairs are available for use within the Museum. Please ask at the security desk on arrival to access this service. Wheelchairs are loaned on a first-come-first-served basis and cannot be booked in advance.

Sensory backpacks

Free sensory backpacks are available for loan upon request at the security desk. Each backpack contains a pair of noise cancelling headphones, a soft toy, and some communication cards.

Colour blindness suitability

The Museum is advised that this event is suitable for people with most forms of colour blindness. While the colours perceived may differ, the overall effect will be the same. If you have questions about the suitability of this workshop for you, please contact us at education@samuseum.sa.gov.au
