Overview & Purpose

The long and storied life of the drink we call Punch has traveled from the East India Trading Company to Death & Co

NYC, and now to your own home. The legend says that “Punch” derives from the Hindi word for “Five”, representing

the key elements for the drink; Citrus, Sugar, Spirit, Water, and Spice. In this class we will show how to become a

master of mixing these components to bring a new level of hospitality to each gathering you host.

Expectations

1. Explaining the History of Punches; where it comes from, what it consists of, and how it has been used.

2. Describing the core five elements of Punch, how they are made and used to create a balanced drink.

3. Using a variety of classic Punch recipes to show the spectrum of flavors that can be expressed and to give

the host of a party a stable of choices to call upon.

4. Educate on how Punch can be used to elevate hospitality for any type of gathering.

Objectives

1. Understand how the history of Punch explains how it can be used not only as a libation but to tie a gathering

together.

2. Be able to properly construct the ingredients of classic Punch recipes and correctly incorporate them

together.

3. Know how to properly serve Punch to create a communal point for the guests of your gathering.

4. Inspire the knowledge gained by understanding classic recipes to create recipes of your own
