June 2025 Lunch and Learn - Behind the Scenes with Les Paul - Sue Baker
Event description
Join us on June 10th, 2025 for our monthly lunch and learn. This month, Sue Baker, Program Director of the Les Paul Foundation, will present Behind the Scenes with Les Paul.
Meet the Wizard of Waukesha through stories from his friend. Glimpse the musician, inventor, husband, father, the boy who chased sound right up to and beyond 36 gold records and then invented today’s recording techniques. Throughout his decades of fame, Les Paul wanted the world to know his hometown was Waukesha, Wisconsin. This is your chance to learn about the city’s famous son.
Sue Baker became friends with Les Paul in the last ten years of his life. She heard hours of stories from the master, including those about his growing-up years in Waukesha. Sue located the sites of Les Paul’s childhood memories. At Les’s request, she helped him find the site for his memorial. After his passing, Sue organized his Waukesha funeral and worked with his business manager on the design for the memorial. She has written extensively about Les Paul, been interviewed multiple times, including being in the documentary “Les Paul Chasing Sound.” She has given presentations about Les and helped with Les Paul exhibits in several museums.
