BOOK: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
The Nightingale tells the story of two sisters, Vianne and Isabelle, in Nazi-occupied France during World War II. Vianne, the older sister, attempts to protect her family and community by following rules and coexisting with the occupying German forces. Isabelle, on the other hand, joins the French Resistance and actively fights against the Nazis, eventually becoming known as the Nightingale. Their contrasting approaches to survival and resistance lead them down different paths, marked by love, loss, and courage.
