Event description
Our social rides, are just that; we ride at a pace that allows for plenty of conversation and laughter and never leave anyone behind. Come along to discover new trails and meet like-minded people.
This ride will cover approximately 55km of dirt road and two-wheeled tracks from Mount Garnett to Lappa predominantly following the old rail alignment.
Riders will need a good level of fitness due to the combination of distance, heat and road surfaces. Riders will need to ensure that they bring enough water for at least 4 hours of riding, plenty of food or gels and spares/tools to get themselves out of trouble as there won't be a support vehicle on this ride. A Lifestyle or higher AusCycling licence is required to participate (ie. Lifestyle Basic is not sufficient). If you don't hold a licence but would like to attend you can take out a free trial licence on the AusCycling website.
NOTE: This ride ends at Lappa and a bus is available with limited seats to return riders to their cars at Mareeba so book early to avoid disappointment. If you don't secure a seat on the bus you will either need to ride back to Mount Garnett or Mareeba or make your own transport arrangements.
