Junior Ranger Explorer Walk

Join your Auckland Parks Ranger for an exciting opportunity to explore, learn, and discover the wonders of our fascinating park environments. Become an Auckland Parks Junior Ranger and dive into fun, hands-on activities in nature!

Who can join:
Junior Ranger walks are perfect for children ages 6-12 years. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (18+ years old).

What to expect:
Each Junior Ranger walk offers unique activities based on the park location and group size. Activities may include:

• Weed Warriors and Pest Detectives

• Bug Hunts

• Nature Treasure Hunts

• Secrets of Our Native Plants

• Bird spotting

Registration is Required:
Please arrive 5 minutes early, fully geared up and ready to explore! We will email any updates or cancellations due to adverse weather.

Important Reminder:
Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising their children during the Junior Ranger Walk.

What to Bring:

• Ranger Gear: Dress for the elements with closed-toe footwear, a sun-smart hat, and sunscreen.

• Ranger Fuel: Bring a reusable water bottle and snacks to keep you energized.

• Ranger Time: Arrive early and be ready to start on time – our Rangers are busy protecting the environment, so let’s not keep them waiting!

H&S and Parking

• If you or your child has a fear of birds this may not be the right event for you - there are a lot of large birds around that are very used to human presence so can come closer than normal.

• Please allow time to find suitable parking for this event, there are both paid and free parking options nearby, but you may need more time to walk to the starting point.

• Look for the flags and Park Rangers near the Fukuoka Garden (Zoo parking lot)
