Junior Virtual KiwiChat - Term 3 - Wed 18 September

TalkLink welcomes all Primary school aged users of alternative and augmentative communication systems.

NB This activity morning is appropriate for younger students from 5 to 11. If your students are older it is not age appropriate and we recommend you joining one of our Senior KiwiChat days instead.

This time the Kiwi Chat Day will be held at : Your home or school using Zoom

THEME OF THE DAY: Winter snow, cold and ice. 

Arrival and introductions

• students and carer will be welcomed and introduced to staff running the day.

• It would be great if students could use their communication device to greet staff and others attending and share a little bit about themselves.

Share a story

• We will be looking at lots of short wintery videos and talking about them using our communication systems.

Let’s move

• Let’s have a break and do some dancing!

Activity

• We will sing a snowman counting song and look at some simple ice experiments to try.

Resources

• We will talk you through the resources we have created for you to use in the session and afterwards!

Vocabulary suggestions

• We are promoting the use of core words for our students who are using communication systems. These might be words such as like, don’t like, this, that, there, see, have, colours and lots of other describing words.
