Legal Education in the Age of AI: How Can and Should Law Schools Respond?

In 2027, the School of Law launches a new curriculum. We are delighted to invite members of the legal profession, the academy, and students, to join us in celebrating the launch of a program designed to prepare graduates for the realities of legal practice in a time of profound transition.
The keynote address will be delivered by the Honourable Justice Jeremy Kirk, Chair of the Legal Qualifications Committee of the Legal Profession Admission Board of NSW. His Honour’s address will be followed by a panel discussion with representatives of the legal profession and members of the Faculty. There will be refreshments to follow.
The event will explore how legal education can prepare graduates for a rapidly changing profession, including the role of AI, practical legal skills, ethical decision-making and the capabilities employers value.
For current and prospective students, it is also an opportunity to discover how Western’s new curriculum connects legal education with the realities of contemporary legal practice and future careers.
