Climate change is an injustice. But not every response to climate change is just.
Are the risks and opportunities of the low-emissions transition unevenly distributed? How can we avoid unfair burdenson already disadvantaged people? How can climate action give effect to te Tiriti o Waitangi? Can we multi-solve by improving present wellbeing as we mitigate future risks? All these questions relate to whether our response to climate change is just and tika.
This webinar introduces the idea of the just and tika transitions. It is hosted by David Hall, Senior Lecturer at AUT University and editor of A Careful Revolution: Towards a Low-emissions Future. He talks to Catherine Leining, Climate Change Commissioner and policy fellow at Motu Economic and Public Policy Research; and Tania Pouwhare, Manager -Community and Social Innovation at The Southern Initiative / Auckland Council.
