K-2 writing moderation - cross sector
Event description
Join the Early Years in Education Society WA for a cross sector Writing Moderation event ready for semester 1 reporting.
Be supported through the process by curriculum consultants and experienced teachers & school leaders.
Morning tea and lunch provided.
Specific location at Murdoch University will be provided before the event.
Regional & Remote teachers will be able to participate via an online link to be provided before the event.
Common writing task: My Family
Attendees are requested to have their students complete a common writing task on the topic 'My Family' with the school grade clearly written on the front, and the teacher, school and a contact email on the back of each sample.
For all students K-2 - create a common writing sheet which has a defined space for a drawing and lines for writing that suit your school context.
* We recommend you create a double sided sheet with the writing template on the front and required information on the back which can be easily photocopied before doing the task with your students.
Each piece of writing should include a drawing related to the writing task and an attempt at writing. Length for older students isn't an issue but for ease of uploading a 2 page maximum is preferred. Please staple pages of multiple page writing by a student together.
No student / school names or indentifying information on the front of the samples please!
You can choose your own introduction to the writing task, text to read, etc.
Annotate each writing sample with any information you feel may affect their writing - individual student special needs or support, level of independent writing or teacher / EA support, school context (remote, high ESL, etc)
Please scribe correct content at the bottom of any work samples where the student's writing is difficult to read and for any students who dictate their 'writing' - this is expected for K and PP students where their oral language and drawing will form part of the moderation process.
We will be providing forms to attendees via their registered email for parent/carer permission to share the work samples for each sector (DoE, CEWA, AISWA) It is the responsibility of individual teachers to ensure permission has been given for any work samples included in the moderation.
A private Facebook group will be created for uploading moderated samples after the event for ongoing use by teachers.
Any questions about the process or the day can be asked on the moderation event post on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/share...
or by emailing us at contact@eyes.org.au
