Kai Ellice-Flint is a professional longboard surfer, surfboard manufacturer from the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. Known for a contemporary blend of traditional surfing style and modern craftsmanship, Kai made history in 2025 as the first Australian to win the US Open of Surfing (Longboard Division) — doing so on a board he shaped and built himself.
With over 25 years in the water and a deep respect for the roots of surfing, Kai’s approach is as much about connection and culture as it is competition. He’s the founder of Higher State Surfboards, a label dedicated to reimagining historical board designs, and his work spans film, design, and performance surfing.
This event is a rare chance to step inside Kai’s world — where craft meets culture, and where every board and film tells a story far beyond the shoreline.
