Event description
In this cultural workshop, Barry McGuire will share his knowledge about the Noongar Season, Kambarang and you will learn how to pick the change of seasons. Barry will also discuss the impact the Noongar Six seasons have on Country and highlight the importance of the Six Seasons to Noongar culture.
Traditionally, Noongar people hunted and gathered food according to the seasons, being guided by nature as to which animals and plants were in abundance during those times.
Kambarang is the wildflower season and there is an abundance of food available including fruit, yams and gilgies (freshwater crayfish).
