Kanahi Yamashita
Description
Kanahi Yamashita (b. 1997, Nagasaki) began touring internationally at an early age with the Kazuhito Yamashita Family Quintet and gave her solo debut at 13 in worldwide duo concerts with her father.
Based in Berlin since 2015, she studied with Prof. T.Müller-Pering and is currently pursuing her Konzertexamen under B.Colell in Nuremberg. Her solo album C.Domeniconi: Selected Works VIII (2021) reflects years of close collaboration with the composer.
Kanahi appears regularly at international festivals and performs as a soloist with leading orchestras, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. Her accomplishments have been recognized with scholarships from the Yamaha Music Foundation and the Rohm Music Foundation Japan. A semi-finalist at the 66th ARD Music Competition (2017), she has also received numerous awards, such as the German Guitar Prize (2019) and second prize at the 10th International Martinez Guitar Competition in Iserlohn (2021). Since 2021, Kanahi has been a D’Addario Artist.
