Karen Walsh Sketchbooking Workshop

Sketch booking is a beautiful creative way of displaying your artwork, whether it be a

thematic approach or for just individual artistic ideas and recording.

This workshop is designed for those students wanting to learn more about outdoor en plein air

sketching using their own handmade sketchbook. The first part of the workshop will involve

learning the art of making a simple handmade concertina sketchbook to use for the

weekend. While letting the glue dry on the sketchbooks, we will explore the use of pen &

wash techniques to develop quick drawings /studies that can fill the book over the two days.

A kit fee of $15 for the handmade sketchbook will be available on the day for purchase. This

will cover the w/c paper, paint, glue and cardboard for the sketchbook.

Materials:

 Artline 220 0.2 black ink pen or Artline 200 0.4 black pen

 Artline Drawing Systems 0.1, or 0.2 or 0.3 (water resistant) or any permanent black

drawing pen

 Pencils/Eraser and other drawing tools you like to use

 Watercolour-pans or tubes & watercolour brushes - whatever you have

 Small palette /Water container

 Masking tape

 Small drawing board to fit paper and clips

 Paper towel or soft cloth

 Sketchbook- w/c , multimedia , or cartridge sketchbook A4 or A5 size

 Cutting matt, utility knife and ruler for handmade bookmaking (if possible)
